Brush delay at start

Post by Palle » Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:05 pm

I have a slight delay or rather I need to move the cursor far enough from starting point for it to start drawing. Doesn't matter if I go fast or slow I just need to draw a centimeter or something for the brush to start drawing.

I can even move my pen in a small area without it starting to draw so it's got something to do with distance from where I've placed my pen tip.
This started at 2.30 and doesn't happen in earlier version. Works the same way with every brush.

I'm using Samsung notebook 9 pro 15 inch with windows 10 and wintab drivers. Re-installing drivers or pss didn't help and I have the latest graphic card drivers.

Have you tried to enable Menu-tablet settings-coordinate mouse" mode?

I tried using the coordinate mouse mode but the delay is still there. Now the cursor sticks to the same spot but jumps to where my pen tip points after I move it far enough.

I tried to use Paintstorm after removing wintab driver and the delay was gone but so was the pressure sensitivity. There is no delay in clip studio or krita.

I had the same problem with the brush delay in Paintstorm, but just fine in Krita.

The problem was solved when I updated my Wacom Intuos driver today.

Found a link with someone having the same problem in photoshop. It even has a gif showing the problem.

but I still haven't found a solution that works for me. At least the old version works but I sure would like to have those new features... :(

I am having the same issue. It began with the newest update. The only thing that would help in any way was to double click with the stylus at the begining of a stroke. This isn't a work-around just an observation.

I'm not sure if this has something to do with the problem. There's a hint of hope that the next windows update fixes similar problem.

I also tested Zbrush and It has the same delay.

The windows october update seems to have fixed the problem. :) I played around with the pen settings and enabling press and hold makes the brush lag slightly so if you still have a small lag then disabling that might fix it.
