Half of the picture opens empty

I have a PSD file I tweak with PSS. When I open it again in Photoshop, half of the picture opens empty. I thought it might be the big size of the file, so I cropped the missing half part in PSS and saved in another file. All that still opens empty. I have made sure there are layers in the file. Does not make any difference. I can see the full picture in Photoshops preview when I try to open but when opened, half of it misses. Funnily if I open it again in PSS, everything is in there. Bit frustrating, I have to say.
