Features Suggestion (Animation)

Hello, I'm gonna put this around here since I couldn't find a proper topic yet for Suggesting Features

Theres a program called azdrawing it's japanese and it's free, It has some nice features that perhaps you could take inspiration from
It uses the layers as animation frames and it has a neat function for filling everything under a lasso selection

I translated and customized it for frame by frame animation
For quick playblast you can press F9 (linetest) after you've activated animation mode (N)
I've uploaded the version I worked on this link in case you guys want to try it out.

To ennumerate useful features
It has a proprietary format .azw however it uses also psd
  • The timeline is the layer order
It has a penciltest function wich you can trigger with F9 after you've animated some frames
    Animation Mode (Triggered pressing N)
    Multiple reference layers
Everything else is already in Paintstorm (Reference layer, etc...)
I hope you guys can take a look at it :)

Thank you for the link. I also think about animation tools, but the problem here - this layer animation works fine only with small canvases and small count of layers. But if you use something like 300 layers show and hide functions for layers takes more time.

But we think that can be done... Maybe we'll find some optimize algorithm for it.

I would love to help out on that.
On that side, AzDrawing has a layer limit which is determined by the amount of memory, however since it's 32bit it just accesses a limited amount
On production side I've noticed that sequences longer than 15 seconds are not that common in 2D. We did this as a proof of concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsRLzCR_N5E

From what i've seen there are two different approaches,
-One is realtime and since azdrawing handles layers as grayscale images, they're not as memory consuming as a full rgba.
-The other is the one TVPaint uses, they have a preview/playblast function which basically renders the sequence on a lower resolution as a video to be played back in realtime

Thanks a lot for paying attention to this. Keep up the excellent work and please let us know if we can be of any help.

I think thse second variant is better, but I don't promise that animation tools will be added very soon :)
