Dynamic guide for the minor axis

Post by Artistic violence » Sun Oct 08, 2017 7:47 am

Pleas can we get a long guide/line that extends past the contour of the ellipse displaying the minor axis of ellipse ruler so it makes it easier to position the ruler in the correct perspective. Thank you

Do you mean something like this:
"cirlce connected to perspective"?

Theoretically yes, but technically, I suppose, he is speaking of something like this: An extended line (green line in the picture) that indicates the minor axis of the ellipse to line it up with vanishing points (or the perspective grid). The other picture (a collage of images from google search) hopefully illustrates why this would be helpful.

It is correct explanation. The same feature You can find in SketchBookPro. Idea was popularized by Scott Robertson who also helped to design the feature in SketchBook. SketchBook's approach suffers by lack of pinning of minor axis to vanishing point.

Can't find this option in sketchbook pro, and there are no any youtube videos with the perspective circle.

It only shows when you hold the rotate button.

I remember Scott showed perspective features of SketchBook in his Free Tutorial Friday videos. But unfortunately he removed TTF from YouTube :-(
